Amisfield Restaurant in Central Otago has been listed in the acclaimed World’s Best Restaurant List, the first time ever for a NZ restaurant being featured.
The “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list is a well-known, prestigious ranking of the top restaurants globally, voted on by culinary experts, including chefs, food writers and foodies around the globe. Amisfield featured in the 51-100 list coming in at 99th place.
Executive Chef Vaughan Mabee said the ranking is an “extraordinary honour — not just for Amisfield, but for New Zealand as a whole— for our producers, our winemakers, our hunters and our stories”. “It marks a proud moment in our journey, as the first restaurant in the country to join this global stage.”

The Restaurant is nestled into the extraordinary southern landscape, located in a beautifully restored building of schist stone and wood. The interior boats rustic beams in the private dining rooms upstairs, and the main restaurant is centred around the warming fireplace. In summer the outdoor courtyard tables boast views of the wonderful vineyard vista.
Amisfield restaurant , has already received numerous accolades, including being named one of the top international restaurants by Food & Wine magazine and receiving the “Best Chef Dining Experience” award at the 2024 Best Chef Awards.
